Dumi Masilela Dies After Attempted Hijacking

Crime has slain yet another hero.  Dumi Masilela, best known for his role as Sfiso in the hit series Rhythm City, has died after an attempted hijacking.  “It is true. We are not sure of the details at the moment but we understand that he was involved in a hijacking on Wednesday and died‚” Rhythm City publicist Joe Strydom revealed to the press this morning. He fought hard for his life but sadly succumbed to his wounds.

In 2008 Dumi was a striker at PSL club Supersport United when a car accident ended his sporting career. After turning to music, he entered the 8th season of Idols South Africa and made it as far as the Top18. To this day his rendition of Danny K’s ‘I Get Up Again’ during theatre week remains a personal favorite. It was after his exit from the show that the production house behind Rhythm City gave him a call to audition for the role of Sfiso, which he nailed.

Masilela recently got married to former Muvhango actress, Simphiwe Ngema.

More than 50 people are murdered in South Africa Every day. The system has failed yet another innocent victim. RIP Dumi!
